Technician Mobile App

FMS Technician is the iYunivesithi Walter Sisulu Facilities Management mobile app for technicians and senior technicians. Accept assigned work orders, start and complete jobs, pause or request reassignment, add progress notes and photo evidence, and verify completed maintenance work. Uses the same FMS database and Phoenix workflows as the web system, with local, Active Directory/LDAP, and Microsoft sign-in.

Use case

### Use cases — FMS Technician #### 1. Technician accepts and starts a job A plumber is assigned a leaking tap in a residence bathroom. Opens **My jobs** → opens the work order → taps **Accept job** → arrives on site → taps **Start work**. #### 2. Technician completes work with evidence While fixing the leak, they add a progress note and upload **before / during / after** photos. When finished, they tap **Complete work** so a senior technician can verify. #### 3. Technician pauses a job Parts are unavailable mid-repair. They choose **Pause**, enter the reason (e.g. awaiting materials). The job goes **On hold** and the SLA clock pauses. #### 4. Technician rejects a wrong assignment An electrician receives a plumbing job. They choose **Reject**, give the reason (wrong trade). The job returns to the team queue for re-routing. #### 5. Technician requests reassignment A technician is overloaded or going on leave. They choose **Reassign**, explain why, and a senior technician redistributes the job. #### 6. Senior technician triages the queue A senior technician opens the **Queue** tab, reviews unassigned / team jobs, and assigns work to the right technician by trade and campus. #### 7. Senior technician verifies completed work A job is marked **Complete**. The senior reviews notes/photos, then **Verify work** (or **Return to technician** if corrections are needed). #### 8. Sign-in with campus credentials Staff sign in with a **local FMS account**, **Walter Sisulu Active Directory / LDAP**, or **Microsoft** (when configured), using the same user roles as the web FMS. #### 9. Field updates stay in sync with web FMS Actions taken in the app (status, notes, photos) write to the **same MySQL database** as the Phoenix web system, so campus managers see live progress on desktop. #### 10. Later scale to administration The same app shell can later add admin / campus-manager screens (reports, broader assignment, oversight) without a separate database.
